Roots x Raptors collaboration video
This video explores a potential collaboration between Roots and the Toronto Raptors, blending Canadian heritage with basketball culture. Through many different types of visuals, and great storytelling, the project envisions how this partnership could celebrate both sports and style in a uniquely Canadian way.
Project Challenges
The biggest challenges in editing this video was the lack of good footage out there on Raptors basketball in the 90s. Unfortunately the person who was in charge of sourcing all of the content to be used did not get good pictures and videos so I was stuck trying to find where to put these assets that would make the overall video have a good flow.
Purpose of the Project
This project goal was to find and showcase the creative possibilities of a Roots x Raptors collaboration, emphasizing their shared values of community, authenticity, and Canadian pride. The goal was to generate excitement and start conversations around how this partnership could work with the Raptors 50th anniversary collection.
Problem the Project is Trying to Solve
The problem that this video was trying to solve is to provide the idea of the Raptors collaborating with a fellow Canadian clothing brand for their 50th anniversary collection. Instead of collaborating with a brand like Nike or Adidas that do not represent Canada, why not be open to the idea of collaborating with a brand that is very vocal about being a proud Canadian brand.
Development of the Project
The editing process involved using a lot of content that was already provided, experimenting with new filters, and following a detailed outline provided by the producer to capture the entire vision that the producer had. The goal was to try and emphasize the 1990s popular culture and the 1990s Raptors era and how that can combine with Roots for this 50th anniversary collaboration.
