TMU Bold Hockey Mini Features

These two mini-feature videos highlight the TMU Bold hockey players Ryan Dugas, Kai Edmonds, and Joseph Ianniello. Designed as intermission content, the videos offer fans an inside look at the players’ season, showcasing their impact on the team.

Project Challenges

The biggest challenge in editing these videos was condensing each player's clips and highlights into a short-form feature while maintaining an engaging pace to it. Balancing game footage with some behind-the-scenes moments required smooth transitions to make the feature work and help capture both their personalities when in a game and when not in a game.

Purpose of the Project

The goal was to connect fans with the players on a deeper level, offering insight into their personal motivations, career highlights, and aspirations. These videos aimed to enhance the intermission experience by providing engaging and meaningful content beyond the game itself.

Problem the Project is Trying to Solve

Sports fans often see athletes only in game situations, but these videos were meant to show how important the players Ryan Dugas, Kai Edmonds, and Joseph Ianniello are for the Bold. The features provide context to their current seasons so far and to their past success playing Junior Hockey in Canada.

Development of the Project

The editing process involved a lot of rewatching and switching where clips go to try and right balance between the two goalies. The goal for both of the features was to making the content as engaging as possible for the viewers watching the live Bold broadcast. After I sourced all of the clips and put the mini features together, I then needed to send them to the analysts who then did a voice over for it. After the analysts sent me the voice overs, I put everything together with some background music and the final pieces were created.
